Manic Miner for Windows

Where Can You Run Manic Miner for Windows?

Note: If you're already running the game, and don't know which version you're using, please see what version am I running.

The latest version (3.01) of Manic Miner has been tested to work with the following operating systems (some environments tested by yours truly, others by people around the world who told me):

  • Windows 9X - Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME
  • Windows NT based - Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Windows XP
The previous version (2.0) had some glitches on Windows NT, 2000, and XP:
  • One some Windows XP machines, the game runs too fast. I got many e-mails saying Manic Miner runs fine on Windows XP, and quite a few saying it runs too fast. I still can't say what's the reason for this to happen (it's definitely not the machine's speed, as I'm using Windows' Multimedia Timer to time events in the game).
  • One some NT machines the background music is missing the first note. This is probably due to an overhead in loading the MIDI support at runtime. Rarely, the music is not played at all.
If you encounter any problem, please e-mail me, and I'll try to solve it as soon as possible. I can't promise anything, but I'll try.
