I'm stuck at a certain level. What can I do?

Try again until you success. It's best if you do it by yourself. You can try solving the same level using Kids Mode, and then try in the resular mode.

Another option is the Manic Miner Walkthrough on Google Video. This is a complete walkthrough of the game (23 minutes), but you can use the slider to skip forward. It's a walkthrough of the original game, but the Windows version is so accurate that anyting applies to it as well.

When all else fail, send me an e-mail and I'll give you a few hints.

I can't do the game with just 3 lives. How can I get more?

First, you'll get an extra life every 10,000 points you score, but I guess that's not what you asked... This game has a cheat mode that emulates the cheat mode of the original ZX Spectrum game. Use F1 in the game to get more information.

What about a Windows version of Jet Set Willy? What else have you done?

When I wrote Manic Miner I was a happy bachelor with a lot of free time. With a wife and two kids (see below), that's not the case anymore. Unfortunately, it's unlikely I'll be able to do it. If someone wants to pick up what I have and continue from there, I'll be happy to cooperate. Still I've done a few other things I published on this site.

What about other remakes of old jems like Chuckie Egg, Sabre Wolf and such?

I know of a Chuckie Egg remake I liked. Everyone has his favorite game, and mine is definitely Manic Miner (hence the remake...) I suggest you simply use your favorite search engine to look for remakes of your favorite game. That's what I would do. Believe it or not, I also wanted to write a remake of PacMan (arcade version), but found an excellent port (to DOS, we're talking about the mid 1990es) called PacPC, I dropped the PacMan project right away.

I registered the game, but the registration code I got only works on a single computer. How can I register another computer like my laptop or my child's computer?

You're right - there's a different registration code for each installation of the game. If you want to register the game on another computer, please do the following:

Run Manic Miner for Windows on the computer where it's not registered yet.

Press F1 from the main screen to get to the help screen.

On the help screen you'll see a serial number at the lower left side.

Send me an e-mail with the serial number. Please also include the approximate date you registered Manic Miner for Windows (if you remember). I will reply with a registration code that you can use to register Manic Miner for Windows on this computer.

Clicking on the 'register' button within the game should have brought you to a page on the internet where you can start the registration process. If this didn't happen, please do the following:

Run Manic Miner for Windows.

Press F1 from the main screen to get to the help screen.

On the help screen you'll see a serial number at the lower left side.

Fill in the serial number below and hit the 'Proceed' button to get to the same internet page you would have gotten to, had the 'register' button worked:
